ONDREJ [KUMQUAT] Zurich, Switzerland

ONDREJ was born in Czech Republic in 1978. When he was three years old the family relocated to Switzerland. When this small neutral country was swept up in the first techno-wave in 90s Ondrej was a regular visitor to the raves, co-organizing parties and even small festivals. Around 1994 he began buying records and took his first steps at mixing. Soon he was noticed by the most important promoters of Switzerland, and has performed in spectacular festivals attended by thousands of people.

In 2005, he founded the music label KumQuat Tunes becoming one of the most respected independent platform electronic music worldwide. This innovative project, which focuses on high-quality electronic music, was supported and charted by main international DJs as Hernan Cattaneo, MOS, Deep Mariano, Franco Cinelli, Stephan Bodzin, David Amo & Julio Navas, D-Nox & Becker, Len Faki among others.

Beside his tasks as Head of KUMQUAT, Ondrej revels challenges of audience on his own “Dynamo” monthly show on DANCERADIO.gr (every 2nd Tuesday 20:00h GMT+2 time)and on his live streaming “Ground Control” show on AUDIOASYL.net, web radio which hosts the best talents of the techno scene of Switzerland.

Broadcasts of Ondrej are frequently on FRISKY RADIO, VIRUS (DRS, national Swiss radio) and ”Guest DJ Zone” show at Best Radio 92.6 MHz. in Greece at the renowned “Guest Dj Zone” de SerGeo (Swift rec., Greece).

PROTON Radio featured him as “Dj of the Week” and broadcasted at “D-NOX IN DEMAND” show, reaching the top ten of listeners the whole month of on June 07. RA (Resident Advisor), IBIZA VOICE and AERO GROOVE support currently Ondrej’s artistic profile.

His music originally focused on progressive house beats but today on very uplifting minimal-techno tracks. He has sheared line up with D-Nox & Beckers, Leif Hatfield, MOS, Patrick Zigon, Prime Time, Khainz, André Absolut, Chab, Marc o’ Tool, Oliver Klein, Chris Cargo,Peter Gun, Solead, Jorge Savoretti, Lucas Mari among many others.

As discography, PLUSQUAM Rec. (Hamburg, Germany) invited Ondrej to produce its next compilation "On the Decks with DJ ONDREJ" released on March 2008 marking a new step for Ondrej.

Nowadays, Ondrej is recognized for his fresh, powerful-rocking sets and impeccable mixing techniques.
